I love the fact that you were in London and back home again and in your bath by 10:10. And that you were happy with that. London can be incredibly draining.
Rain coming I feel and lots of it here in Bristol so don’t panic too soon. More worrying, I didn’t see a single swallow or swift last year. A huge number of house martins but they were all nesting at Goodrich Castle. You should go and see them. They make a lot of noise but they don’t really seem to mind the people walking right past their nests.
The world is a mess and the seasons seem to me to have slipped rather than gone away. We oldies still discuss the weather incessantly. Maybe it’s just losing favour with the young?
I love to hear about your life (so glamorous!) and your hens and I know it’s a lot of work but keep writing please. An old lady thanks you.
It's raining here in South Somerset but it's quite light. I saw my first Swallow last Thursday at Coat near Martock, it was perched on a wire. The sunshine showed off its iridescent colours beautifully and its forked tail wavered slightly in the breeze. It's surprising how small things like this really lift the spirits.
What Lucy said Arthur. And perhaps this is what's meant by unconditional. Can we embrace rather than brace for our instinct to oppose? Find somewhere for our feelings of worry, regret, confusion and sadness to repose. Not that I succeed, it's just I feel compelled to feel more comfortable with uncertainty. I suppose we're living in one great big swirling mystery............and I'm not even including London. Lol
The older I get (and I am old) the more I notice the unseasonality of the seasons. One could rely on frosts and snow in January, cold and wet in Feb, windy and wet in March, sunshine and showers in April before that merge into warmer, softer weather over summer. What happened? I don't think I could bear to go to London now, I am completely out of the bait of city life. Even Exeter feels like the great metropolis!
We have had so much rain here, and quite cold temperatures at night. Hubby and I both always check the weather. After all we both have outside jobs. He as a Land Surveyor, and I have a garden maintenance business. Don't worry about the rain. I am flying in to visit my daughter and her family, g this week. I see the forecast is for rain the entire twelve days I am there!!😳😍
The weather this month really has been odd. And it's so hot in the sun but really chilly in the shade.
It's interesting that you've seen more bees around, because of the sunshine. The gardens around me are currently full of scarlet tiger moth caterpillars and I was wondering if the sunshine has contributed to that. The gardens have a lot of blue alkanet, which the caterpillars love, so that helps, of course!
I initially attempted to get rid of the blue alkanet, but it's impossible - and once I realised how much the caterpillars love it, I decided to leave most of it in and only dig it up where it was getting in the way (after checking for caterpillars and chrysalises first!). It's lovely having the gorgeous moths in my garden as a reward!

It’s a comfort to read someone voicing my thoughts. I think the rain is coming and the cowslips will hopefully grow taller. X
